2012 Toyota Yaris Details
The 2012 Yaris is powered by a 1.5-liter inline-4 engine that produces 106 horsepower and 103 lb-ft of torque. This front-wheel-drive vehicle has a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission. The manual has an EPA fuel economy rating of 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway and the automatic has a rating of 30 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
The L and LE trims are available with either three-doors or five-doors while the SE trim comes only with five-doors. The 2012 Yaris has a larger cargo area thanks to an increase of 2.9 inches in length compared to previous years. Other improvements include larger wheels and a single arm wiper that is expected to improve windshield cleaning and wiping.
Air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, and power door locks are standard on the L trim. The LE trim adds a six-way-adjustable driver seat, power windows, and an improved stereo system. The SE trim has a sport-tuned suspension and standard amenities include upgraded upholstery, performance tires, and cruise control.

The 2012 Yaris is even safer than it was previously. The vehicle has nine standard airbags and front seats designed to help limit whiplash injury. Additional standard safety features include traction control, stability control, tire pressure monitoring, four-wheel antilock brakes, emergency braking assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, and child seat anchors.
Front-seat passengers will find their seats to be supportive and comfortable and rear-seat passengers will find they have plenty of room for their legs. Cargo space behind the rear seats has been increased to 15.6 cubic feet in the five-door Yaris. This vehicle has a standard sound system that is above average for this segment.
