2012 Corolla Details
The 2012 Corolla has a 1.8-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine that generates 132 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. This front-wheel-drive vehicle has dual variable valve timing with intelligence to help improve performance and fuel efficiency.
The 2012 Corolla comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive or an optional four-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission on the Base L and S trims. The LE trim comes standard with the automatic transmission. Drivers can manually shift the automatic by moving the shift lever from the "D" position to the "S" position. When in "S" mode, the driver can upshift and downshift manually and consult an indicator that keeps track of what gear is in use.
The EPA estimated fuel economy for the manual transmission is 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway and for the automatic transmission is 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
